{SPLASHING THROUGH A REMOTE, BEAUTIFUL SLOT CANYON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT}
Salome is a slot canyon just outside of Tonto Basin, AZ. Only 2+ hours away from campus, it's an overnight trip that brings you into a whole other world >> a beautiful, carved, canyon with towering cliffs, natural water slides, and a small rappel. Salome Canyon is a unique adventure loaded with new friends & memories you'll want to keep.
We'll leave after ELEVATE on Friday night (9.15) & head over to the Payson area. Then we'll get up Saturday morning, eat breakfast & head out to the canyon. We should be back in Prescott by 8-9 Saturday night (9.16).
THE DETAILS:
a 4 mile (round trip) hike thru the desert to reach the canyon
the canyon requires boulder hopping/scrambling, swimming, & short rappel or cliff jump
it will be HOT - like desert hot.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
sleeping bag or a way to sleep comfortably Friday night
clothes & shoes you can get wet in
breakfast & a lunch in a dry bag to eat in the canyon Saturday
plenty of water
a great attitude
$23 for gas & adventure insurance
cash for fast food on the way home
